The Wild Wild West

This bulletin board is informational in nature and highlights songs og the pioneers and westward expansion. Take a brown paper bag (or several depending on the size of your board), cut and flatten it to use as the background for your bulletin board. I used rope as a border (staple gun helped me put it up) and hung a little red hankerchief in the middle at the bottom of the board as a "ribbon" of sorts. Take a brown crayon and sketch a wagon trail across the whole background. Print out (or copy from a pattern book) several different cactus patterns and 2 or 3 covered wagons. You could also use horses, tumbleweeds, whatever. On the cacti and wagons you are going to write the names of some songs from this era. I suggest some of these:

"Buffalo Gals", "Good Gun, Good Horse, Good Wife", "Hush, Little Baby", "My Darling Clementine", "Santy Anno", "Skip to my Lou", and "Sweet Betsy from Pike".
