Meter

I teach/review meter in September. In October I put up a really simple board that reinforces the idea.

The top of the board is labeled “Meter” Below I have three rows of die-cut pumpkins arranged into two measures each.

The first row is in 2/4 time with two pumpkins then a measure line followed by two pumpkins.

The second row is in ¾ time with three pumpkins then a measure line followed by three pumpkins.

The final row is in 4/4 time with four pumpkins then a measure line followed by four pumpkins

I try to line up the pumpkins for the first two ‘beats’ of each measure so there is a visual sense of adding additional beats. Of course, this would work with any type of theme. I have gotten many compliments on it!  submitted by  Jessi La Scola
