The cupcakes or birthday cakes contain the names of students, the group they perform in and their birthday. Mixed with the kids names and birthdays are famous composer birthdays. Sometimes I use this for one group like band or choir or junior high choir. Another way to use this boards would be to change the cupcakes every month and highlight a different class or group. When finished with the bulletin board I gave the cupcakes to the kids if they wanted. A majority of the kids (high school included) took their home, hung them in their locker etc.

I used a birthday cake pattern from Print Shop for the board you see above. In class I used a simpler cupcake with a candle in it, copied it a jillion times onto brightly colored construction paper and then wrote the names and info on with markers.
