Unlocking the Keys to the Musical Alphabet

For this bulletin board I put a huge padlock in the middle.  At the top of the bulletin board I put a caption reading, Unlocking the Keys to the Musical Alphabet with the letters A-G listed.

Next I thought of words that can be spelled using only the musical alphabet.  These I printed out in a very large font, cut out and put on different colors of paper keys.  These paper keys were laminated then hung on long strands of yarn.

Next on different colors shaped like conversation clouds, I put staves with the notes that spell out the words that were on the keys.  These I stapled to the bulletin board.  Each cloud had a pin stuck under it.

As children walked by my bulletin board, they could tack a key under a staff of notes, trying to match the words to the notes.

Each day I would take down any that were wrong so that they could try again.  The children enjoyed this activity bulletin board.        –-Catharine Basson
